Events
Total Child Preschool & Childcare Center
organizes and presents special events throughout the year. Some are
designed to give families an opportunity to meet and socialize with
each other. The Center also coordinates a number of fundraising events.
Last year over $12,000 was raised to help support the TC operating
budget, purchase supplies and finance the TC scholarship program.
These events and activities are successful because of the many TC
family volunteers who contribute their time, skills and resources.
Whether baking cookies for a bake sale, spreading woodchips on the
playground during a work day, putting up decorations for a TC dinner,
our volunteers make a significant difference. Every TC family is
expected to volunteer for at least two projects or events each year.
TC Community Events
Parent
Night
is an annual gathering of both new and returning parents and TC staff.
Held in early September, this evening includes an overview of policies
and procedures, meetings with teachers, classroom tours and social time
for parents.
Harvest Soup Dinner is held every October. The children and TC staff prepare a delicious homemade vegetable soup for this special dinner. Parents and families also have the opportunity to spend time with the TC community.
Family Day TC celebrates our diversity each year at our Annual Family Day held each winter. Parents volunteer to share their talents and cultural heritage through craft activities, songs, stories, and dance. The morning ends with an international feast.
Kindergarten Night is held each spring for parents of children who will be entering Kindergarten the following fall. At this educational session, experienced Kindergarten teachers give parents an overview of what to expect during a child's first year in elementary school.
Young Evanston Artists (YEA) Exhibition - YEA exhibits the artwork of its students at a booth during this Evanston community event in May.
All School Picnic - All TC children, families and staff gather together in early June for our annual picnic, celebrating the end of the academic year.
Other Educational Programs - From time to time the TC offers seminars or workshops for TC families on parenting or related topics.
